Learn Dance
Learning the intricate movements of the Argentine Tango will require time and patience for students to master. While attending group classes are very beneficial, it may be difficult for an instructor to critique your dancing with 40 additional students dancing at the same time.
Private lessons are a great opportunity to have an instructor evaluate and make recommendations about your performances. Dancers are able to learn remarkable amounts about their own dance style and also about various dance techniques within Tango. Participation in one hour of private instruction with an experienced dancer will help students of all levels to save hours of frustration and help to avoid potentially painful mistakes.
For beginners it may be wise to start out learning tango through group classes to see if you like the dance. Try attending classes for a month or two so you can begin mastering the basic skills. Take part in milongas to test your skills and watch for potential instructors and new movements you would like to learn. When you feel comfortable begin to look for a local instructor who offers private lessons.
The Toledo Tango Club is instructed by a master at tango artist, Paulette, who also offers private lessons. Utilizing Paulette’s private lessons has helped to improve the skills of many club members who study the dance on a more serious level. Of course lessons are not reserved strictly for those seriously studying the dance. If you are interested in learning tango skills before entering a large class contact an instructor for a few lessons before dancing with the large group.
